“Lil Chris” has been on a wrecking spree since he was actually “Lil”. He has always stepped up to any terrain and will either break it off or get broke off. He’s been on our radar for a while and it just came down to the fact that Chris is made to ride for Classic. The photo below was taken by Classic Rider Dane Haman and he breaks down the process it took. Everyone on the team is their own person, an individual, and their skating speaks volumes. Welcome to the Team Chris! This Summer is going to be brutal.
“this one isn’t immediately gnar-zone but i think its rad because you have to take an extra second to do the skate math [distance = rate x time or whatever]. plus its chris so you know he’s hauling balls and going further than any of us could think was doable. its not so much the distance itself but the fact that its a pop up to quick foot set job – theres just no room to get comfy but chris had it dialed. shots a bit on the artsy side but i felt it my duty to include the numbers game and the astroturf. juxtaposing those elements with the raw danger taking place across the bench to bench span makes a poignant statement about the varying concepts of play in our society, and unavoidably touches on the peter pan vortex all of us are caught in as our bodies age disintegrate against our will. almost a little too fittingly, the image was made on an expired roll of slide-film that Carnel passed to me at some point, and i had it one hour cross processed in town to avoid paying out the ass for standard slide processing, which takes ten days to send to LA. using the wrong chemicals is what makes the colors and texture of the film all shifted [i’m sure theres apps for this]. i’ve never done that before, and i’m stoked on the skate photos on the roll but none of the non-skate photos. i think skating is heavy like that – it can handle whatever you throw at it. at least, i always thought its heavier than people realize. all that said, i felt lucky to be out skating on x-mas day, and being given the chance to lay down in a weird zone to capture this gap ollie was a fuckin treat.” -Dane Haman
